The Dave Matthews Band's latest cd just came out and I thought you guys might be interested in reading what Rolling Stone magazine had to say about the latest release. All-in-all the review seems good, but the author seems to believe that part of Dave Matthews unique musical perspective was drowned out by the coming together of the rest of the band. If anyone has listened to part or all of the album it would be great if you could add your thoughts and commentary!

Turns out Paris isn't as popular as she used to be. However, maybe she's happier this way. In this article she discusses her lack of social life recently, although she's reportedly paid between $150,000 and $200,000 just to show up to a party. She's become slightly jaded, stating that you can't really trust anyone and that many of her old friends were fake. She lists among her true friends: her family, sister, fiance, and some other close friends. Maybe it's also a result of her newfound desire to settle down in the next couple of years and start a family. I've noticed talking to others that many social friends are lost once a person stops partying as often.

I know that they started dating but I had no idea that this marriage was about to happen. Who? You ask. Tom and Katie, no. Angelina and Brad, no. Paris and Paris, who are already engaged, no. Renee Zellwegger and Kenny Chesney were married today in St. John in the Virgin Islands. I know they are not celebrities I am supposed to cover in my blog, but since I do discuss gossip and this news that I read in this article were so shocking I found it necessary to announce this to my blog readers! Did anyone see this coming?

Once again an amazing bit of news has just appeared on my Bloglines. Even though this information does not concern any of the 6 celebrities I discuss, I have decided it's way to interesting not to report. It is now rumored that Jake Gyllenhal and Catalina Sandino Moreno are either seeing each other, or maybe just hooking up. This article details the make-out session that led to my posting. What I'm wondering is what happened to the hot/cold relationship between Jake and Kirsten? Does anyone know if the once-in-awhile hook-up between the two is over for good?

The New Magazine In Town

There is an all new celebrity gossip magazine. I recently found it in certain news shops in NYC. This magazine, Celebrity Living, is being sold for the bargain price of $1.89. The magazine is fairly up-to-date, and not too bad. I enjoy the layout and the pictures. They have a fairly comprehensive fashion section. My only complaint is the writing is somewhat lackluster and the decision of which items are newsworthy needs to be a little more discerning. All-in-all though I think it has great potential and it will most likely raise in price after a few years, so buy it now!

Update on Tom and Katie's whirlwind love affair

So, here we go again. Tom and Katie have been canoodling in the US after their recent trip to Rome. All the magazines have been reporting on their recent visit to Las Vegas. They were able to take in a Cirque du Soleil on April 30th. Meanwhile, many people are still suspicious that this is all some elaborate PR hoax. What do you guys think? Their trip to Rome has been called a "Roman Holiday" which I can tie into Audrey Hepburn who was known for her role in the movie which helped to introduce her to the American public. I hope that Katie and Tom's romance ends a little more pleasantly than the star-crossed love affair between Princess Ann and Joe Bradley.

So i found 2 great articles at the same place. The second discusses Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and what appears to be their second trip to Africa together. This budding romance seems to be going well, in spite of all the secrecy. The first article relates how Katie Holmes neglected to attend the gala at the Metropolitan museum because of all the recent interest in her actions. Turns out she may have made a wise choice, because Nicole Kidman (Tom Cruise's ex-wife) was co-hosting the gala. Katie's absence from this event, that honors the new Chanel exhibit at the Metro, was apparently not meant as an insult to Carolina Herrera, the famous designer, who was the head of Katie's table and her friend.

So, the Hollywood Reporter has released a review of the famous remake coming out this Friday. In the last paragraph Hilton's acting is described as truly remarkable, for being so bad. So, due to the amazing interest I have received on the blog (through comments) and after class today, I have to decided to post some knowledge about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes for Allison and Mike! I know my blog doesn't not specifically cover these celebrities, but when celebrity news calls it is hard to ignore. Chris Klein has pleaded guilty to his misdeamoner for driving under the influence a couple of weeks ago (prior to the announcement of the dissolution of his relationship with Katie Holmes). Could this have been a factor in their break-up? As far as any other news goes with the developing romance between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, I have not found much else other than that they are dating and the information was confirmed by Tom' sister in this article. Hope you guys enjoy this celebrity gossip!

Nicole and Paris: Wanna Hear More About the Feud

Ok guys, I am going to blog a little more about Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie's quickly disappearing friendship. So, If this subject really interests you I suggest you go to this website, because it discusses all the latest gossip, in short blurbs at least. If you want the whole article pick up this week's (May 9th) In Touch Weekly to get your gossip fix. The article lists the problems between Nicole and Paris (this time it is stated to be jealousy, busy schedules, possible racial slur (allegedly made by Paris and Nicole apparently took offense), SNL fiasco (Paris hosted, Nicole wasn't invited to co-host so she got mad and had a party the same night to view the tape Paris had made with boyfriend Rick)). Now this problem has led to the removal of Nicole Ritchie as a character on Simple Life with the possible replacement of Kimberly Stewart. Although, that rumor has yet to be fully confirmed. The celebrities who have been listed to be in support of Nicole: Mandy Moore, Brandon Davis, Mischa Barton, Ashley Olsen, and Ashlee Simpson. The celebrities that have been listed to be in support of Paris: Paris Latsis (her fiance), Elisha Cuthbert, Pamela Anderson, Owen Wilson, and Kevin Connelly (from Entourage).

Dave Matthews Band Settlement

The Dave Matthews Band has reached a settlement in the Chicago summer fiasco. The band's tour bus driver dumped 800 lb. of waste over a tourist boat in Chicago, which caused a huge uproar this summer. The driver has since been sentenced to probation, community service, and forced to pay a fine. The band agreed to donate 200,000 dollars which will go to state-funded environmental programs. Which only goes to show that The Dave Matthews Band feels truly sorry for the error and wishes to help the environment. This article was found through my E! Online Bloglines subscription.

Ok so I just read some new posts today and thought that since they involved the celebrities my Blog follows, this might be interesting information for anyone reading this. First, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were photographed together on the Beach in an undisclosed country in Africa. The pictures were sold for the (bargain?) price of 1 million dollars to US Weekly in the United States and for a comparative price to the London Sun as well. My second piece of news is that Paris Hilton finally revealed the reason for her split from co-worker friend, Nicole Ritchie. Dave's New CD!

So the Dave Matthews Band is at it again. As you may have read in the helpful comments posted by Emily to my last post, the newest cd, Stand Up, is set to release May 10th. This new cd is the first cd to be released since July 2002's Busted Stuff, not including their live cds. Now for all those weblovers out there, a special concert is set up May 9th that will be performed at the Roseland Ballroom and broadcasted across the Web. For more information go to the Official Dave Matthews Band Website. This record will include 14 new songs. It is especially enjoyable to see the band back to creating cds together, after the recent solo ventures. Hopefully the cd will be all that their fans have been expecting (i.e. Amazing!) after watching their progress through the past 14 years that they have collaborated. Paris Hilton: House of Wax

It turns out that the celebutant Paris Hilton is about to appear in a major motion picture. Her new role stars the celebrity as a character in the remake of the classic horror film House of Wax. The film star's character is said to die during the movie in a complex scene involving red lingerie. At first I wondered why Paris choose to star in this film, but then it all started to make sense. She is worried that her 15 min of fame may be running out, and hopes to stay in the public's eye for a little while longer. Her tv show is now in its third-season, and may be running out of steam. With that venture coming to an end, she needed to appear in some form of media other than gossip magazines. There are also rumors about her friendship with co-worker, Nicole Ritchie, becoming a little rocky. Supposedly they are not in a favorable mood with one another at this point. Nicole has been garnering attention with her new slim body, her recent engagement, and her transformation into a classy celebrity. Some magazines have intimated that the rift may be caused by jealousy on the part of Paris and Paris's dislike for Nicole's fiance. The promotion shirt for the movie, in both pink and black, states: See Paris Die May 6th.

Audrey and Unicef: The Start of A Beautiful Friendship

I'm sure if you know who Audrey Hepburn is you have a memory of watching her movies. I personally always think of the opening credits to Breakfast At Tiffany's which just happens to be my favorite film and one of my favorite books. However, there was a side to Audrey's life that didn't include films. In 1988, Audrey became a Goodwill Ambassador for Unicef (as did Angelina Jolie years later). Audrey could have many reasons for choosing such a philanthropic activity for the last 5 years of her life. I choose to believe that it is a result of her childhood and her own need for help during and after World War II as well as her compassionate and noble nature, which I find is evident in the roles she choose prior to her work with Unicef. Her childhood (this information is available on the A&E Biography) was spent in Europe (she was born in Belgium) waiting for the war to end. During the six years that the wars was waged in Europe, Audrey attended the Arnhem Conservatory, but she was not unaffected by the war. She went through the same poverty and malnutrition that most children in Europe went through at the time. I think her ability to identify with those children she aids through Unicef is a main reason that she chose to work there. She has said that she has known about Unicef since World War II ended and the organization aided children like her and around her who had suffered through major challenges because of the war. I also think that her roles, such as: Princess Ann in Roman Holiday, Natasha Rostov in War and Peace, and Karen Wright in The Children's Hour, show her determination to ensure honesty and her willingness to give up some of her desires for the good of others. I guess, I could just be projecting what I want to see in Audrey Hepburn, but I don't think she just ended up with those roles, I think she chose them because the characters believed in the same ideals that she tried to embody in life and in her work with Unicef.

Celebrity Romance!

With all of the rumors swirling about around the marriage of Brad Pitt and the possibility of his affair with Angelina Jolie, you probably assume that I am going to discuss all of that as if this were a gossip column. However, I would prefer to consider and discuss the reasons that Brad Pitt chose his latest movie, which allowed him to work with the wonderful Angelina.

I think that by looking at Brad Pitt's 5 most recent films prior to this vehicle might provide insight into his decision. These movies from least to most recent are: Full Frontal (does anyone remember that?), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Sinbad:Legend of the Seven Seas (why would he hide his beauty behind an animated film?), Troy, and Ocean's Twelve. These movies may have prompted Brad to pick a movie where he was the only male lead, and clearly the most handsome man on set. He needed a movie to reinstate his masculine presence (wearing a skirt in Troy, even though he was Achilles, does not help to give him a strong masculine appearance). It has been a while since Brad has appeared in a romantic comedy, and considering that most of his fans are women drooling over his looks, he needs to pay his dues to them.
There may also be some provocation to star in this movie due to his marital strife. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is all about a couple who deceive each other about their careers and are then hired to assassinate one another. This is not to say he wishes to harm his wife, Jennifer Aniston, but rather that he may have identified with a character who is having marital difficulties. (These views are not substantiated by the celebrities they discuss, they are merely my assumptions.)

So basically, this is just an overview of the future articles to come. I plan on writing an article every week dealing with one of 6 pop culture celebrities (mostly actors) and then commenting on a different aspect of their life that has been publicized in the media or some that have not been explored enough in the media, such as some celebrities involvement in charitable organizations, movies, and music. I will analyze the reasons they are involved in their actions, and try to come to some conclusion for the choices they make. The 6 celebrities I will be focusing on are: Angelina Jolie, Paris Hilton, Audrey Hepburn (her past choices), Brad Pitt, George Carlin, and Dave Matthews.
